Louise Darby –ceramics & photography Louise takes great pleasure in selecting, organizing and hosting her biannual exhibitions with continued success; she is pleased to introduce three new artists for this exhibition. Again their work shares something of her inspiration and the feel of Clay Barn and its urroundings, wildlife and -landscape and the tamed garden and domestic animal; creating an exciting and varied group to exhibit alongside her finely thrown stoneware and porcelain ceramics and latest collection of photographs. |

Tamsin Abbott - illustrated Glass Tamsin is influenced by myths, her materials, and the Herefordshire countryside around her home. Using ready coloured glass she cuts and assembles her multicoloured 'canvas', coating it with matt glass paint; she then scrapes through this, working in the negative to achieve an effect like a woodcut, creating her own illustrative enchanted world, revealing and working with the 'grain' and colours of the glass below, all enhanced by light. |
|
Lyn Antley - jewellery Lyn uses a combination of gold, silver, bronze and brass to create her story telling jewellery. She is inspired by both her travels to far away places, the fairy stories that she read to her children, and the natural world around her home in Worcestershire. Lyn's work is witty and imaginative, and sometimes incorporates moving parts, she also likes to incorporate words in her work and some pieces have 'secret' inscriptions and images on the reverse. |

Sue Scullard – wood engraving Sue began wood engraving on endgrain boxwood at the Royal College of Art 30 years ago; since she has been making prints for illustration commissions and exhibition. The small size and close grain of the woodblocks, and the fine lines of her sharp engraving tools, lend themselves to detailed work. Her inspirations include landscape, gardens, trees, animals - she explores the textures and patterns of her subjects and is fascinated by perspective. |

Jane Ryan - automata Jane works in wood, often reclaimed, enjoying the history of the material; treating it in a microwave to clean it; she also uses oak which is weighty and lovely to work. With the nature of the material and her working methods, no two pieces are the same. There have been recurrent themes running through her work over the years reflecting her seaside home, love of gardening, food... Jane's work is infused with a genuine humour, colour and ingenuity. |

Judith Yarrow - mixed media paintings Judith's work is a physical exploration of the way different media interact with different surfaces and with each other. She is inspired by the often remote landscapes she walks in around the British Isles, viewpoints looking down from high mountains, especially in the area around Dolgellau and the Mawddach Estuary, exploring the space, ridges and valleys, far horizons and details within. Light and dark are a constant theme in her paintings. |
