Louise Darby - Ceramics and Photography

Louise Darby –pottery & photography

Louise is host and exhibitor, and Clay Barn her studio home. She is showing her finely thrown stoneware and porcelain, which have developed over her thirty years in the profession, always with an eye for detail, the unexpected and humour. Much inspiration is drawn obliquely from her photography, which she exhibits alongside her ceramics, representing her travels, this exhibition is no exception..

Karen Christie - jewellery

Karen has been making unique silver and gold jewellery since 1998, earning a national reputation. Her jewellery often takes the form of smooth silver pebble-like beads; her most recent collection incorporates semi precious stones and glass beads. Each piece of her jewellery carries a small honeybee symbol as your guarantee of originality. The bee has proved so popular that an entire collection has been designed around its decoration, along with many other themes.

Kay Elliott - watercolours

Kay captures the delicacy of the petals whilst combining the richness and depth of the colours and retaining the complexity of the flower structure. She calls this soft architecture. Kay always works spontaneously and conveys her excitement onto the paper in an observational and contemporary way. The result is paintings which are decorative and beautiful, displaying gorgeous colours and elegant forms. Weather permitting Kay will be painting in the garden.

Rachel Higgins - sculpture

From life size pigs to ants Rachel is always adding to her menagerie of creatures from the natural world, and developing methods of interpreting their characteristics - welding, tying, riveting and soldering copper wire; introducing enamels, precious metals and heat treatment colourations, and using various brass filter material to define form and create a transparency to observe the mechanics and the drawn wire structure below, delightfully capturing their essence.

Siobhan Jones - designer glass

Inspired by light's different qualities and the part it plays in bringing life to an object - high quality glass is a perfect medium for Siobhan's contemporary work. She hand cuts and arranges the glass, shaping thin glass canes, layering colours, creating and decorating each piece. These are then fused in the kiln with occasional copper inclusions creating unique 'one off' pieces. Her latest work shows an exciting new direction incorporating fused with stained glass.
